MET GALA

What is met gala?
The Met Gala is intended to be a venue where art and fashion may interact. It serves as a venue for high society gatherings and the promotion of fashion-forward attire. It is essentially a fundraiser for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The Gala was established in 1946, with the first major event taking place in 1948. The gala is held on the first Monday of May each year. It marks the start of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Many of the attendees have appeared on Vogue's covers and pages.
After the red carpet, the biggest part of the night is a tour of The Costume Institute’s latest exhibition. Celebrity walk up the famous Met steps, that’s where the public part of this event stops. Once everyone goes inside, phones are supposed to be turned off, and there are no reporters present according to US vogue.

HOW DOES THE MET GALA RAISE MONEY FOR THE FUNDRAISERS
Aside from advertising profits, the Met Gala continues to fund performances by selling exclusive tickets: a ticket costs $35,000, and a table costs $200,000 to $300,000, according to the Evening Standard. The funds raised will be used to support the museum and future Met Gala events.

How did met gala start
Lambert, a well-known fashion publicist, founded the Met Gala in 1948 to raise funds for the Costume Institute and mark the start of its annual exhibit. Lambert is also the founder of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which she founded in 1962.
The Costume Institute, founded by Irene Lewisohn and Aline Bernstein and originally known as the Museum of Costume Art, merged with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1946.
The first Met Gala was a dinner held in December of that year, with tickets costing $50 each. From its inception until 1971, the event was held in locations other than the Met, including Central Park, the Rainbow Room, and the Waldorf Astoria.

MY FIVE FAVOURITE LOOKS
Kendall Jenner, 2021
Kendal Jenner looked stunning in a sheer gown with a floor-grazing train draped into a mermaid silhouette. Rhinestones encrusted the dress, which crept onto the shoulders like epaulettes. She finished the look by wearing nude-colored underwear underneath the dress. Kendal's boldness and the way she carried the dress demonstrated how comfortable she is in her own skin and body, which was my favourite aspect of her entire look.

Blake Lively, 2022
The gown featured an oversized copper bow at the hip, which led into a long, dramatic train. The bow unravelled as she walked down the red carpet, revealing the stunning green colour. She has seven spikes that represent the seven seas and continents, as well as inclusivity, welcome, and freedom. If we look closely, we can see the letters B, R, J, I, and B running down the middle of the clutch.
Lively and Reynolds are represented by the letters, as are their three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty.
The dress she wore was more than just an outfit; each detail had its own meaning.
Gigi Hadid 2018
One of her most glamorous moments occurred in 2018 during the "Heavenly Bodies" exhibition, when she wore a Versace stained glass window-inspired gown that looked like a true work of art.
The dress had a rock-like structure that resembled the rocks and stones found in water bodies. I really liked the dress's structure.

Rihanna, 2021
Rihanna walked down the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing an imperial yellow fur-trimmed cape embroidered with scrolls and scrolls of flora.
The 2015 Met Gala's theme was China's influence on western fashion. Guo Pei designed the gown for Chinese couture. It took one Chinese woman two years to make.
The dress was one-of-a-kind and reminded me of Chinese fashion.

Reynolds, 2021
Reynolds opted for a more classic look, wearing a brown velvet suit with a white vest and matching bow tie, as well as an Omega watch. He appeared calm and refined.
